About this Specimen:
48.5g
40 × 34 × 59mm

———

The Liufengshan Mine is world famous because its one of a handful of mines which produce gem crystal azurite - that’s azurite with clear crystal structure, reflects light, etc. instead of just mere matte druzy.

This particular specimen is a malachite pseudormorph after azurite. That means the azurite was formed first. However, environmental changes, like low partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the air, causes the azurite to change chemically into malachite, thus the scattering of malachite over the surface of this specimen.
